Shoes, Chaussures, Zapatos, Scarpas...

My name is Flossy and I’m a shoeaholic (well, I’m actually a bag, clothes, beauty and hair-aholic as well, but lets just stick with the shoes for now.)

My first shoe memory was when I was a little girl and I got my first pair of school shoes – I felt so grown up and I put them at the end of my bed when I went to sleep. They had patterns on the sole and when you walked in the mud or the snow they made these really cool markings. Fast forward a few years to my first ‘grown up’ shoe shop. I went with a friend after school and caught the bus into town where with my money burning a hole in my pocket, I purchased the most amazing pair of red patent shoes – completely impractical as they couldn’t be worn at school but so cool.

My shoe addiction continued with far to many pairs and then one day I caught the designer bug. I bought a pair of shoes that actually cost more than a weeks wages (bear in mind this was quite a few years ago and I was still living at home -  and I moved out when I was 19!) I was slightly embarrassed by the cost, so knocked a fair bit off the price when anyone asked. to. I wore them one night when my boyfriend at the time and myself were invited to my boss’ house. Stupidly I forgot to take the price of the bottom – what was the first thing my boss’ wife noticed?  – The price of the shoes. She couldn’t believe I could buy shoes that cost such a lot of money when she had to shop in second hand shops. (Charity shops and vintage were things of the future) Red faced and lying through my teeth to my boss and my boyfriend (who nearly fainted) we made our excuses and left.

My designer addiction has continued – I’ll never forget my first pair of Gucci’s, Prada’s, Dior's, Dolce & Gabanna’s, Louboutin’s and Mui Mui’s, but my favourites and most comfortable of all are my Chanel shoes. I love them. I still have the very first pair I bought, and like childbirth I can remember every moment of the shopping experience. I have classic flat pumps, platforms, pointed toes and be-jewelled ones purchased for a special birthday. Even if I never wear them again they were worth it!
