Ou est Summer?!

I’m sitting here, dressed in black like some Italian matriarch, looking out the window at the dull and dismal weather hoping the rain will stop before I have to leave the office and get my Prada cork soled platforms ruined –  where is the great British summer?

I’m not big on summer clothes – I like a maxi dress but flounces and flowers aren’t really me. I’m much more of an autumn/winter clothes person and can’t wait to see what I’m going to be wearing this year - I have several things on my wish list already.  I really didn’t have to wait too long when into my in box today I received e-shots from Liberty, Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and My Wardrobe all showcasing their new season’s collections. Do they know something we don’t ?  Have we had our summer?

In this country you almost need a transitional wardrobe. I have some clothes I wear all year round. Gone are the days when you had a definite summer wardrobe, which was put away in September ready for next year. Now I have a holiday wardrobe of clothes I wear only two or three weeks of the year, which seems such a waste. All our season’s are merging into one. My little ray of sunshine today was the Barbour Winter White Trench Coat on My Wardrobe and the Khaki Fond Drape Dress by Vivienne Westwood at Liberty’s.

Flossy xx
